DNA Polymerases: Biology, Diseases and Biomedical Applications Conference 2014

This will be the third specialized meeting on DNA polymerases. The first meeting was held in 2010 in Ascona, Switzerland and the most recent meeting was held in 2012 in Madrid, Spain. Similar to the two previous meetings, this meeting will attract around 100 participants. The current meeting will specifically focus on advances that provide mechanistic understanding of how DNA polymerases influence genome integrity, with emphasis on the means by which these pathways intersect rare human genetic diseases, such as, cancer, neurodegeneration and aging.

The four main sessions of the 3.5 day meeting will consider:

  • Structure and function of DNA polymerases
  • Biology and regulation of DNA polymerases
  • The roles of DNA polymerases in human diseases
  • Evolution of DNA polymerases for new applications

The goals of the meeting are to identify new avenues of investigation, to define therapeutic strategies for the maintenance of genome integrity, to stimulate collaborations between academic, government and industry scientist, and to foster the long-term development of research into DNA polymerases. We hope that you will be able to join us at Robinson College, for what we anticipate will be a stimulating and thought provoking meeting on all aspects of DNA polymerase biology.

One of the newest colleges in the University of Cambridge, Robinson College was founded with a donation by the entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir David Robinson and formally opened in 1981. An environment in which learning, research and creativity flourish; the College is set in beautiful, landscaped gardens and is situated close to the University Library and the West Cambridge Science Site. Opened as a purpose-built conference centre in support of academic vocation, Robinson College has been excelling as a conference venue for over 30 years by exceeding expectations.
